Requirements
- Diesel Mechanic Trade Certificate
- 3-5 years post Trade Test experience
- Code C or EC driver’s license.
- Computer literacy
- Willingness to work overtime and outside normal working hours when required.
- Willingness to work in all weather conditions.
Key Performance Areas
- Co-ordinates activities with specific functional areas i.e. vehicle maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting & fault finding
- Carrying out repairs by stripping, cleaning, overhauling, replacing and assembling components (e.g. brake and clutch overhauls, gearboxes, engines and any other related mechanical repairs)
- Testing vehicle systems, components and isolating faults
- Diagnosing systems and identifying incipient and latent defects on components by visual inspection, performing functional tests, (including road testing) and investigation procedures
- Checking the functionality of replacement components and executing the necessary adjustment and setting sequences
- Interprets a co-ordinate specific pre-work requirements with regards to repair, planned and predictive maintenance sequences and guides the activities of personnel including apprentices
- Interacting with stores and checking allocated components and materials against job cards prior to commencing with the job
- Completes internal transactional documentation timeously.
- Report writing on diagnoses and failed components and proving root cause analysis for failures with recommended corrective measures
- Train and supervise apprentices.
- Review damage reports, prepare or review repair costs estimates.
- Communicating with the immediate supervisor and establish material and resources necessary against specific work orders.
- Attending to deviations in performance or disciplinary/conflict – issues.
- Adhering/ensuring compliance with all health and safety policies and procedures
