SALARY SCALE

  • R 554 690, R568 633, R582 805 p.a (Plus Contribution to Medical Aid, Pension Fund, Group Life, Housing, Cellphone and travelling allowance of 650km per month)

REQUIREMENTS

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Preferably a B Degree in Town Planning
  • Working towards or completed registration as a professional planner
  • Computer literacy: MS Office
  • Knowledge of Geographic Information system will be an added advantage
  • Valid Drivers License

EXPERIENCE

  • 2-5 years experience required

DUTIES:

  • Liaise and assist in coordinating projects between national. Provincial and local government
  • Assist with implementing Integrated Development Planning (IDP)
  • Compilation of reports and recommendations to District Planning Tribunal
  • To provide strategic planning and development services
  • Administration of public participation processes
  • Process applications for new township developments, land development proposals, and changes in land in terms of Planning Legislation and By-Laws
  • Processing and responding to internal and outgoing correspondence
  • Contribute to and interpretation of the Municipal Spatial Development Framework
  • Interpretation and enforcement of the Zoning Scheme Regulations
  • Give professional advice to the public and potential developers

Knowledge and Skills

  • Exceptional analytical, administrative, communication and report writing skills required
  • Must have a good sound understanding of government, strategies, policies and legislations
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of Integrated Development Planning (IDP) and Spatial Development Framework (SDF) processes.

Planning and Organising

  • Develops integrated plans for the work unit and others that interface with the department’s budget
  • Attends to and manages multiple tasks and details by focusing on key priorities and delegation to others;
  • Develops scenarios on projects; and
  • Assists others to plan and organise their work.

Monitoring and Reporting

  • Provides guidance in the planning of the IDP process plan;
  • Monitors and reports on processes related to the development of the IDP; and

FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES

INFORMATION MANAGEMENT

 

  • Able to provide data and information, trends analyses and contextual information for Municipality and related reporting;
  • Able to prepare and undertake presentations to Municipality and external groups.
