DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Risk Management
- Monitor safety, equipment, production and quality risk at all times and report any significant change in risk.
- Be pro-active in hazard identification and correction
- Laboratory/Plant Operation
- Collect representative samples, perform wet laboratory analysis and report accurate results.
- Interpreting laboratory data prior recording on the log sheet, report any analysis out of specification.
- Collecting flowmeter reading for production calculations.
- Perform good housekeeping in the laboratory before and after analysis.
- Disposing of hazardous waste and material according to safe guidelines
- Checks stock levels of chemicals and consumables and report to the lab supervisor to action top up of chemicals and consumables as required.
- Record Keeping
- Completes all shift logs with the appropriate plant data as per frequencies and schedules.
- Sampling
- Takes routine plant samples in accordance with the specified procedure and as per the required frequencies.
- Takes external water samples as per required schedules, labels and issues for distribution
- Lab procedures
- Follows the required analytical methods as per procedures.
- Documents all results on shift logs and reports any out of specification results to the laboratory supervisor.
- Maintenance
- Reports all lab equipment and instruments as soon as possible when they are malfunctioning.
- Reporting
- Reports any out of normal operating conditions
Safety, Health and Environment
- Follow all client and company policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.
- Prior performing any task do suitable risk assessments.
- Adhere to safety regulation as stipulated in your induction and material safety data sheet.
- Housekeeping
- Ensures that good housekeeping practices on the plant are always maintained at a high level. A place for everything and everything in its place.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS
- Matric (Grade 12) or an equivalent qualification registered at NQF Level 4, including relevant NATED courses (e.g., N3 Certificate)
- Maths and Science will be an advantage
- Driver’s License for manual vehicle an added advantage
EXPERIENCE
- At least 2-3 years experience required
- English language proficiency
- Knowledge of workplace safety and procedures
